Asansol, January 27, 2020:
71st Republic Day was celebrated by Asansol Division of Eastern Railway at Divisional Railway Stadium (Loco Ground), Asansol on 26.01.2020 (Sunday). Shri Sumit Sarkar, Divisional Railway Manager, Asansol unfurled the National Flag on this occasion. Guard of Honour was presented by the RPF contingent, Volunteers of Bharat Scouts and Guides and Members of St. John’s Ambulance.
In his speech, Shri Sarkar, DRM, Asansol said that Asansol Division serves important collieries, Power Plants, Steel Plants, Cement Plants and Sponge iron Plants and also major Mail/Express Corridor, Division has done well in current financial year. He mentioned that up to December 2019, Passengers earnings of this Division have gone up by 6.01% and punctuality of Mail/Express trains has touched 82.4%. Best ever Mail/Express punctuality of 98.92% was recorded on 01.12.2019. Quantum Jump in ticket checking earning also from Rs. 8.41 crores in 2018-19 to Rs. 11.58 crores in 2019-20 thereby registering an improvement of 37.67%. He also added that Bapu Chariot, special train giving detailed story-line about Great Shri Mahatma Gandhi was inaugurated by Hon’ ble MP, on 02.10.2019. Passenger amenity is our focus area, we have developed open passenger lounge at all important station in the Division with the provision of stainless steel sitting bench, Two train Asansol-Gonda/Gorakhpur and Asansol –Mumbai express have been upgraded under project Utkrisht with all advance amenities. Beautification of Asansol, Durgapur, Jasidih, Madhupur, Andal, Giridih and Jamtara stations has been done with façade improvement, ,Garden Development, Provision of fountain were made. Monumental National Flag has been installed at Asansol, Siuri, Deoghar,Dumka, Jamtara & Giridih stations. QR coding of point machine of Asansol Division has been developed which enables to record maintenance of point machine at site. New trains from Madhupur to Anand Vihar have been introduced; the same was flagged off by Hon’ble MR through video conferencing. For recognition and acknowledgement of good work done by the staff at field level and also to motivate their co-workers one staff from each department is awarded with Star of the Month Award every Month, so far 350 railway men have been awarded. Shravani Mela at Baidyanathdham was held from July to August. Piligrims visited the holy shrine at Baidyanathdham. All special arrangements like previous years were done with lots of improvement in passenger amenity items. He also added that excellent performance was achieved on Safety and Security front, Energy conservation, Environment, Staff welfare, etc.He appreciated the officer’s and staff of Asansol Division for the good work done for this division.A colorful cultural programme was presented by Eastern Railway Bharat Scouts and Guides, Divisional Cultural Association and students of Eastern Railway Schools.On this occasion many officers including Shri R.K.Barnwal, Addl. Divisional Railway Manager along with Branch Officers, Volunteers of BS&G, Eastern Railways School students and a large number of staff were present.Later, Shri Sarkar, DRM, Asansol also unfurled the National Flag at Scouts Den of Bharat Scouts & Guides, Asansol District at Traffic Colony.
